As a Women-Owned Business, we celebrate the accomplishments of the women in our industry and strongly believe that gender diversity in the workplace is crucial to success. Differing principles, opinions and outlooks allow for a more creative and open environment, and we enforce these philosophies to inspire one another and continuously stay at the forefront.

While Technology is ever-evolving, so is our company, and Christelle Aponte, Director of Enterprise Services is DRIVEN towards our clients’ success and the growth of our team. With extensive experience in Management Consulting, she brings forward industry intelligence and positive team spirit, helping to differentiate our capabilities and value from others in our industry.

Christelle will be representing ForeFront (joined by other team members Mercedes Marchetti and Bhavna Bhagchandani) at the recognized Women in Tech Summit in Philadelphia this Friday and Saturday (April 21-22). What inspired you to get into technology?

I often joke that I was born to be a Consultant. In middle school, I organized a book-sharing program as a part of my after-school program. In high school, I would travel throughout the tri-state area to manage wrestling tournaments on the weekend (whether or not my brother was wrestling). I was fortunate to find my passion at a young age and have parents who nurtured this interest. I also had a front-row seat to watch my parents company grow out of the basement of my childhood home to its now international presence.

What advice as an experienced professional would you give to young women who strive to work in technology?

My advice is to think beyond the technology platform, as it is often a means to an end. To be successful, you must understand the business goals and where technology can support. By thinking more broadly, you can think more strategically and recognize opportunities within and beyond the technical scope. This drives business success and, ultimately, mutual success.

What do you believe that young women need to know, hear or see when choosing technology as their career path?

I believe young women need to see, hear, and know other women who have achieved success within their industry. Everyone needs a role model. I feel fortunate that ForeFront’s leadership team is 60% female and a woman-owned business so that I and others here can see their success, learn from their mistakes, and continue a path for others.

What is one piece of advice you would tell your younger self if you could?

I would ask my younger self to network more! It seems so obvious now, but I wish I had spent more time building and maintaining relationships from a younger age. You never know when and how a casual acquaintance can help you, or you can help them. Relationships are integral to a successful career and a happy life.

How do you unwind?

Admittedly, I watch mindless television! Bravo’s Real Housewives, Top Chef, Below Deck, or Million Dollar Listing are always on my DVR. And every Sunday, my husband and I spend an hour at a Vinyasa Yoga class where our incredible teacher shares life-lessons, turns the heat up to 100o+ and then blasts hip hop music while we practice. Both allow me to shut out and shut down for a short time and reset for the next week ahead.

What do you think is the key to success?

Passion and Persistence. If you have a passion for something and go after it, then you will be successful in whatever way you define it…even if it takes endless persistence throughout the journey.

What can’t you live without?

My family. From my parents who inspire me, to my husband who motivates me, and my children who bring joy to every day. Without all of them, I wouldn’t be able to do all of the things that I’ve been able to achieve and continue to reach for more.
