The Overview
About the Customer
A leading manufacturer of electrical connectors, wiring devices, and power distribution equipment sells engineered components to distributors and electrical contractors through two B2B commerce storefronts. Their catalog runs deep, with highly specific product lines tied to precise engineering specs, and their entire commerce operation depends on clean, reliable data flowing between Salesforce and their back-end ERP.
When they first came to ForeFront, that data flow was anything but clean.
The Challenge
A Broken Commerce Foundation
The company had already invested in Salesforce B2B Commerce, built on the legacy CloudCraze platform. But the implementation left behind by a previous systems integrator was fragile. Integrations with their J.D. Edwards (JDE) ERP were unreliable, data was inconsistent, and the commerce environment required constant firefighting. Business users had lost confidence in the system.
Then came an even bigger lift: the company needed to modernize their JDE environment, migrating from on-premises servers to AWS while simultaneously upgrading to a newer version of the platform. That meant keeping a live commerce operation running while refactoring integrations, managing multiple API endpoints simultaneously, and executing a clean cutover in a single weekend. There was no margin for error.
The Solution
Rescue, Stabilize, Expand
ForeFront took ownership of the existing environment and got to work. We refactored the integration layer between Salesforce B2B Commerce (CloudCraze) and JDE, standardized data flows, optimized the process architecture, and rebuilt the team’s confidence that the platform would do what it was supposed to do.
With the platform stabilized, ForeFront managed the JDE-to-AWS migration from end to end. The cutover required keeping multiple API endpoints live simultaneously and had to happen over a single weekend without disrupting either of the company’s live storefronts. It went off without a hitch.
Since the rescue and migration, ForeFront has become the company’s long-term Salesforce managed services partner. We handle the full support lifecycle: tickets, enhancements, integrations, and product catalog management. The team continues to expand the platform — Maps is live for field rep visit planning, LinkedIn Sales Navigator is integrated so reps get automatic alerts when key contacts change jobs, and a Microsoft Teams integration is currently in development.
The Outcome
Stable, Trusted, and Growing Commerce
What started as a rescue engagement became a long-term partnership. The commerce environment that once required constant firefighting now runs reliably. The JDE-to-AWS migration — a complex, high-stakes technical lift — was delivered without downtime. And the platform keeps getting better.
The team is already looking ahead: getting off legacy CloudCraze onto a modern commerce stack is on the roadmap, and when their data is ready, AI will follow.
Here’s a quick recap of everything we accomplished:
- Cleaned up a broken implementation and rebuilt the integration architecture with JDE ERP.
- Zero-downtime ERP migration. JDE on-prem to AWS migration and platform upgrade executed over a single weekend without disrupting either live storefront.
- 75 users on a stable, trusted platform. Sales users operating reliably on a fully integrated Salesforce environment across two storefronts.
- Continuous managed services. Ongoing support, enhancements, and integrations as a long-term partner.
- Active platform expansion. Maps, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and Teams integration underway.
ForeFront came in where another partner couldn’t deliver — not just to stabilize Commerce, but to take on a complex ERP cloud migration without taking the business offline. The result is a manufacturer running a reliable commerce operation across two live storefronts, with a long-term partner invested in what comes next.
